to clarify Joe's comments: I said I did not offer the Mavs pick right away, but since response from the Pistons did take almost a week after every PM the negotiations didn't really get going smoothly The initial asking price from the Pistons (Nets & Sonics picks) were gone for Maggs meanwhile. But i don't play the Heat card here, complaining i had the better offer. No, even if he did my offer - either the two mentioned picks or the Mavs one - I think it was bad for the Pistons Why in the world trade a 24yr old on the verge of stardom that's signed to a very favourable contract for 3 more years. As the Lakers said, at the very very best the Pistons will end up with a Hughes-type guy in 3-4 seasons from now. It simply doesn't make any sense.

havent you all learned yet that joe when he wants to get a deal done he goes to the pistons and warriors, sometimes the mavs gm's. Maybe its just cause he knows he can get a deal done with them.. some gms have those teams they know they can talk deal with and gms they tend to avoid. Not a fan of it myself , this deal but its what you come to expect in the league at this point.
As for gms not offering much in deals, its been that way for awhile and in more leagues than just this one. Teams want to get the most for the least its how it goes...

All I know is that the Rockets GM is the king of trade comment threads now. He starts everyone one. All I know is that your the only GM here that has to bitch about everything. You're right. You're absolutely right Rockets. You've been here all of 9 sims and you know all don't you? I need to stand back and make way for the almighty Rockets and his mastery of the league and it's history. My mistake. I don't know what I was thinking. My mistake.

pretty sure I've made more than one deal with every team in this league and probably a deal with at least every gm. Probably more than anyone else can say but who cares. I honestly dont' at this point. Its the same stuff from the same guys so its not a shocker. In fact, like I said, Pistons offered this, if he thinks its bad I'll gladly let him keep hughes, or like I earlier stated, if anyone with a better pick this year than the Spurs would give it up for Hughes then please speak up.

bulls, hawks, pacers, celtics, suns, nuggest, wolves
Those are the teams picks this year that are better than the Spurs at this point. The mavs are two games up so I'm calling them a push. If anyone with the above teams will give their pick for Hughes then I'll cancel my deal with the Pistons and he can take this better deal. Personally I doubt it happens but we will see.

i agree with joe no team is gonna offer more for hughes than what he is pick wise anyway imo.. that doesnt mean i agree with him making the move but with his team he has to start dealing guys anyway at some point to really get started. its not the guy i would have started with dealing but probably the only guy with value around the league. Its his team he can do as he wants as usual.

agree, Grizz, I'm sure he would rather have dealt GP/Hunter but he hasn't been able to. With the 3 of them he is stuck in Mediocrity. Should be interesting to see if anyone steps up and takes this young superstar for a mere top 7 pick this year.

they won't i agree.. teams prefer to take a long shot at the lotto than give it for a sure fire player, besides hughes is 24 now he's over the hill next year according to the way things go in the league

You dont' have a top 7 pick. You have a pick of a team thats close to a wash with the Spurs. Not really any better for him.

in fact it's great if such a thread is started. keeps a lot of dicsussion going, especially for trades like this. so thanks, Rockets. (and we all know, for Joe trades it's mandatory someone else starts those, right Joe?)

but one reminder: WAIT with posting a comment thread until a trade is ACCEPTED from both sides.
... which this deal is (still) not.
So we're discussing a trade here for 2 pages already that's not even a trade yet. Not good ...

Yeah, I guess starting a trade comments thread is very bad. Forgive me. Did I ever say it was bad? Did I? Did I "bitch?" Nope. I said you're the new king of the comment threads. You've started 2 of the last 8. Is that a crazy number? Nope. I was giving you a hard time because you've started 2 that you weren't involved in. They're also NOT complete yet, like Bugs said. You come back with how I "bitch" about everything. Trade comment threads should be done by the parties involved. Some teams don't want to post so then anyone can post, but it's generally done AFTER the deal goes through. You're the one that needs to chill out.
