Jason Kidd, Jamaal Magloire, Michael Redd, Eddie Jones, and Grant Hill are all well known players that are entering the free agent market this off-season. Still, there are some other, less-hyped players that have the ability to make a big impact for a new team next season. Here are five of the players, one from each position, that I will be bidding on. And since I am, you should, too!!!
Smush Parker PG 6'4'' 180 23 C C+ B- C+ D+ A
Smush's real name isn't Smush. It's William. But that has nothing to do with why you want this guy on your team. A second round draft pick by the Knicks two year's ago, Smush played behind Jason Kidd in Milwaukee last season, a Milwaukee team that went to the LBA Finals. Milwaukee's coaches have been raving about how much his game improved playing head to head against one of the best point guards the league has ever seen. He still has A potential, is tall for a point guard (6'4") and is only 23 years old. I'm going to offer 50 million over 5 years for the league's next Isaiah Thomas.
Roger Mason Jr. SG 6'5'' 212 23 C C C C+ C B
Roger sat out last season with a broken pelvis, which he suffered playing internet poker, but wouldn't have seen much time on the court anyways because he was blocked by LeBron James. I'm still looking to bring him back for three reasons: 1) he has the size and the strength to be a lock down defender at a position that is flooded with great scorers around the league, 2) he scored ten points in a game his rookie season even though he was playing center and was only in the game for three minutes, 3) his last name is a first name and the league has a history of great players whose last names are first names: M. Jordan, I. Thomas, Y. Ming. I'm going to offer him a seven year contract worth a total of 63.7 million dollars.
Quentin Richardson SF 6'6'' 230 25 C+ B+ B- B+ C+ B
Q has quietly developed great ratings. He was a top-ten pick four years ago for the Blazers. He was kept off the court in Portland and LA during his first two years becasue those teams were title contenders. Then the last two years everyone forgot he was in the league becasue he played for the Warriors, a team that know one remembers being in the league, including the Jazz who swept them in the first round of the playoffs last year. Q has the potential to be a solid starter and maybe even a second or thirs option. I'll give him a one year deal worth 11 million. If he plays well, i'll give him a multi-year deal next season.
Adonal Foyle PF 6'10'' 250 29 C- D- C- B+ C+ C
It is widely accepted among most of the league's GMs and scouts that Foyle is actually the best player in the league right now. Kings insiders have reported that it was Foyle who enabled D-Rob to continue playing as a top-10 player in the league the last two seasons. I'll give him a max deal for sure.
Steven Hunter C 7'0'' 240 22 C+ D- D+ B- B- C
Steven never fit in with the Hornets. Many beleive that in the right setting, Hunter could be the enxt great low-poast scorer in the LBA. Plus, there are reports that hte 22 year old endured a growth-spirt last year and will now be listed at 7'4". You can't teach size, but sometimes you get lucky and find someone that is a freak and doesn't stop growing. I'll offer him a 4 year deal worth a total of 30 million dollars, Canadian.
