Ever wondered why Villanueva looks the way he does? Well he suffers from Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune skin disease resulting in hair loss from the scalp and elsewhere on the body. That didnt stop him from leading his team in reb and points per game. He was also named to the All Big East Conference 2nd team and is hoping to become a star in the LBA.
Strengths :
Charlie Villanueva is a strong all around talent. He has the body to play multiple positions with the inside game of a power forward and the outside game of a small forward. He is competent at passing the ball, scoring from the outside and handling the ball on the break. His inside/outside game makes him a virtual lock for a double-double every night. He is an athletic player which gives him an advantage on the defensive end.
Weaknesses:
He needs to stay in the game all the time, sometimes drifts in and out of games and because of that gets benched. He lacks strength to be a fulltime PF and would probably be suited to the SF position. Needs to work on his footwork as he can get abused by quicker SFs.
Overall :
A talent and a half, has to work on his dedication to the game. If he drifts in and out of games in the LBA he could see himself drifting out of the LBA alltogether. If he can get stronger he could be something really special. Thats a big IF!!
